It’s no secret that there are a lot of photographers in Utah, and some locations have been “oversaturated” by photographers, but that doesn’t make them any less beautiful to have your pictures taken at. Here are seven of the most commonly used locations for engagement and bridal portraits in the Utah Valley.
- Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City: This park is located just below the capitol. If you want to add on a second location to your session, this is a super great way to get variety in two locations with only one parking spot.😉 Memory Grove Park has a lot of diversity and is really easy to access. We suggest shooting here at sunrise or on weekday evenings because it gets really busy on weekends. More in-depth info on choosing Memory Grove as your portrait session location!
2. Tibble Fork Reservoir in Salt Lake City: This is located about 15 minutes up American Fork Canyon. Most people don’t have cell service here, so we have a plan in place for how we will meet with you and stay in touch with you as we head up the canyon. Tibble Fork is extremely busy in the summer, but the views are absolutely stunning. Austin and I actually had our engagement photos taken here. This is probably the most commonly chosen portrait location in Utah.
3. Salt Lake City Capitol: The capitol is amazing, and is one of our most frequently requested locations. You can choose to have your portraits taken indoor or outdoor and it is beautiful year round. There is a lot of parking, and it very easy access. More info on planning a SLC capitol portrait session!
4. Vineyard Beach: We love Vineyard Beach because it is easy to access and it has more variety than most lakeside locations in Utah.
5. Tunnel Springs Park: Tunnel Springs Park is located in North Bountiful. It is a wide open field and park, open for public access. The field area is up above the public park, and it is absolutely stunning especially at sunset, but it gets extremely busy.
6. Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point: Ashton Gardens has a fee to photograph there, but it is beautiful from the spring to the fall. They have two busy seasons. Number one is the tulip festival in early spring. Number two is the rose season, which our personal favorite. Absolutely stunning and worth every penny for the fee.
7. Lower Squaw Peak Field: Lower Squaw Peak Field looks the best in the spring with the flowers, but it beautiful all year round. We shoot here at sunrise only due to crowding and limited parking.
