These are the second in home lifestyle newborn photos I’ve done in the last six months for this really sweet family. Saige (the Mom) is my cousin, and not only do I think she is just the most beautiful woman, but I also look up to her for so many of her amazing character traits.
Saige and Perry had two cute kids and started to struggle with infertility after their second was born. They waited several years, then decided to pursue adoption. Last summer, we took their family portraits at Albion Basin for the four of them. They shared with me that a few weeks earlier, they had just been matched with a Mom who wanted them to adopt her baby, and were in the waiting stage, hoping that they would get to bring her into their family.
Little did I know, Saige was actually already pregnant with baby Kovi during those portraits as well.
This in home family/newborn session was filled with a lot of hope and faith for what could be to come for their family in the future. Kovi’s newborn session was one of my favorites that I have ever photographed. Getting to see their family all together and loving on not just Kovi, but her adopted big sister Rivi, was really special and really unique.
Watching their family navigate this new addition was really special, especially after knowing the journey to get there. In some of their families portraits, there is a photo of Christ in the background which I think was so fitting because throughout their journey, Saige and Perry were very faithful, and shared that faith with others which I really admired.
We loved incorporating the older kids in some of these portraits, and it was so fun to get to see their relationship with their younger sisters. Fun fact, Nyx was a little sad about having another sister, because he was hoping for a brother (they didn’t find out the gender until birth). They let him choose Kovi’s first name. He was so proud of being the one to choose it.
