Engagement Photos at the Bruneau Sand Dunes

Rylee and Austin’s engagement photos at the Bruneau Sand Dunes (our new favorite Boise location).

Rylee really wanted snowy engagement photos, which usually isn’t a problem in Boise. However, after attempting to schedule portraits in the snow several times, we ended up deciding to switch things up and do their engagement photos at the sand dunes instead, because the weather has been so unseasonably warm. I am STILL shocked that we only had 1 real snow storm here this year.

Our usual snow locations were really dry even in mid-February. Moving to the Bruneau Sand Dunes ended up being perfect, and was a beautiful backdrop for Rylee and Austin’s engagement session.

A few things you need to know about scheduling engagement photos at the Bruneau Sand Dunes:

  1. The Bruneau Sand Dunes are ALWAYS windy! Be prepared with extra hairspray and a brush in case you want to touch up your hair before moving into another outfit.
  2. It is a LONG drive to get out there, but it is so worth it! So far, all my sand dunes clients have had cell service, which is a huge bonus.
  3. The bathrooms are almost always open-I haven’t ever seen them closed (but I never want to guarantee this, so I will always have my changing tent with me just in case).
  4. It is HARD to climb and walk on the sand dunes. Please bring comfortable shoes that you are ok with getting dirty, and carry your nicer shoes (or just ditch them in general like Rylee & Austin did later on).
