Our 2023 Carys Haslam Photography Team St. George retreat, filled with stunning portrait sessions and lots of fun!
Everyone knows that spending a weekend in St. George is the BEST, but spending it with close friends, creating stunning images, and laying by the pool is the ACTUAL best. Shanel, Halie, Ashlyn and I decided to do a quick girls weekend (McKay ended up crashing), and we had the BEST time. Next year, we are going to shoot a little less, and play more, but it was great! Here is a quick recap of our crazy itinerary & all the fun we had!!
We started our trip by driving from Boise to Central Utah, then took a quick break (before heading all the way to St. George) at Halie’s house, where McKay made quick friends with Halie’s girls! Shanel met us at Halie’s, where we headed down to St. George for a couples session with Natalie & Andrew! It was the most stunning evening (and a perfect temperature)! How crazy is this iphone behind the scenes versus final image?? I swear, photography is magic. These photos are WHY this location is my favorite in Southern Utah, even more than Zion or Bryce Canyon! White Rocks Amphitheater is just absolutely perfect, year round. A few more behind the scenes, and of course, the classic pop up changing tent that we could never live without!! This makes quick changes so easy for all our clients!
We started the next morning with pedicures and pool time… because a girls trip can’t be all work!!Again y’all, the White Rocks rule. We headed from the pool to change and get ready for Shauna & Easton’s engagement session!! These two traveled down for their session, and it was amazing. Can’t wait for their Meridian Temple Wedding in August! How fun are these behind the scenes??
The next morning, we headed to a studio to update our team headshots and have Shanel teach us all her flatlay tips and tricks. She is a master with details! McKay took a nap (finally).

A flatlay final image (are these shoes to die for, or what??), and a cute behind the scenes Shanel snagged after McKay’s nap.That evening, we headed to Zion National Park to finish off our trip!! McKay was the best sport during this whole hike and session, even WAY after his bedtime! I was so nervous about doing the hike with him in a carrier, but it was NOT hard and that was such a relief for me! Plus, it was overcast and COOL!! The biggest blessing EVER.How stunning is this location for a bridal session?Can you imagine having your first look here?? My all time favorite behind the scenes of me… Phone, camera, and baby. Story of my life!
I love this team so much (and McKay does too). I can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
